The black connection between moustache and mantle is a feature of Sind Woodpecker but the size and bulk of these birds,
the extent of the 'bar' at the sides of the breast and perhaps the admixed crown pattern indicated
that they were hybrids between Sind and Syrian Woodpeckers, which are known to occur in this area.
