Black-headed Gull Chroicocephalus ridibundusLeucistic individual, Frankley Reservoir, West Midlands, September 2003 |
© A. R. Dean |
This individual wintered in the area of Bartley and Frankley
Reservoirs for around ten years.
Black areas and bare parts normal but mantle, scapulars, tertials and coverts lacking
usual grey component. Thus despite predominantly white plumage this is not
an albino but a leucistic individual.
