Note relatively short primary projection, finely-patterned wing-coverts and notched edges of tertials, which are all typical of first calendar-year Herring Gull. Fresh mantle and scapular feathers show internal anchor marks, contrasting with a few retained juvenile feathers with solid dark centres.
