Third calendar-year (second summer) Herring Gull. Note the clean grey mantle and scapulars creating a
saddle, contrasting with the older and generally brown-variegated
wing-coverts and tertials.
Primaries worn and bleached to a brown hue. The bill shows extensive yellow but
retains some black towards the tip. Iris becoming pale.
