An adult Kittiwake in flight. 'Dipped in ink' wing-tip pattern well illustrated here. Although photographed in late March, this individual is still in winter plumage: note grey 'shawl' across nape with narrow black line separating shawl from white of crown. Compare this with pristine white head of another individual in summer plumage, photographed at a similar time of year.
