An adult Caspian Gull at Dosthill Lake, November 17th 2008. In upper photo note the characteristically long and parallel-sided bill; the relatively small head and long neck; the 'snouted' profile to head-and-bill, and the small and blackish ('bullet-hole') appearance of the eye. The base of the bill is more weakly-coloured than in comparable taxa, with an olive-yellow hue, and there is a subterminal blackish line and a reddish spot concentrated on the lower mandible. In the lower photo, note the long and prominent white tip to p10 and the solid black bar across the tip of p5. In both photos the pale greyish-flesh colour of the legs is just visible, as is the long tibia.
