Bonaparte's Gull Chroicocephalus philadelphia

 

Vagrant. Five records.


 

Bonaparte's Gull, another vagrant from North America, has appeared in the West Midlands region on five occasions, all between 1990 and 1996. Two records are from Warwickshire and three from Staffordshire.

 

Staffordshire

Westport Lake, first-winter, December 24th 1991 (British Birds 86: 489).

Blithfield Reservoir, adult, October 4th - 6th 1994 (British Birds 88: 518).

Blithfield Reservoir, first-winter, April 27th - 30th 1996 (British Birds 90: 484).

Warwickshire

Abbey Fields, first-winter, Kenilworth, March 10th - 28th 1990 (British Birds 84: 475).
Draycote Water, first-winter, March 18th, 20th, 24th & 29th 1990 (same as above).

Draycote Water, first-summer, May 24th 1992 (British Birds 86: 489).
