Occasionally gulls which have escaped from captivity are found at large among the gulls at reservoirs, gravel pits and other sites. In the West Midlands Region, a Grey-headed Gull L. cirrocephalus was observed at Draycote Water, Warks, on September 1st 1997 and among the Black-headed Gull colony at Kingsbury Water Park, Warks, on June 5th 2000. A Silver Gull Larus novaehollandiae was observed at Draycote, in September 2003. Both had been seen previously at sites elsewhere in the midlands. It is not intended to deal with such species in any depth but if photographs of such species at large in the region become available, they will be posted here.
