Adult Yellow-legged Gull, Dec 5th 2008

A classic, immaculate, adult Yellow-legged Gull in early December.

By mid-December, some Herring Gulls can show a very white head and, in nominate argentatus, an almost comparably dark mantle (see January example). Thus, from mid-December onwards, it is important to use a full suite of features in identifying michahellis.
